Default Armbrace prices and the update.

Before we got skills like Cry of Pain etc, the price was around 100k+20.
After we got the cryway team builds, the price dropped to +10 at some point, but got back up to +20.
Now they nerf the skill (half of the dmg with -10 degen, which is still alot of armor ignoring aoe dmg if you ask me) - people go hysteric with Armbrace price and are asking as high as 60e for one.

I mean, are things so much different between pre-cryway and post CoP nerf?

Please enlighten me :S

It is the morning after an update, so people are trying to price gouge as much as possible. People are trying to sell for 70e and make a quick profit off the panic.

Things will settle down in a few days. I personally would be surprised if they settled any higher than 45e.

Its just good business to take advantage of "NO-ONE CAN DO DOA WITHOUT QQ! NOONE CAN GET BRACES ANYMOAR!" hysteria.

Cry will just get replaced with something else. FoC spike does not look bad in this regard.

OK, so:

1) Update knocked things out of kilter.
2) This means that the "true" market value of an armbrace is now totally unknown.
3) It's in buyer's interest to hold the line, and in seller's interest to try to gouge.
4) So we get market failure (no/few transactions) for a few days until people update their pricing expectations.

I agree with zwei2stein that it's unlikely that there will be a large impact on prices. Among other issues, the armbrace market is currently highly liquid. There's a lot of them available for sale at any time, making a reprice difficult.

ursan got nerfed, so we got cryers, they got nerfed, so we'll have something ridiculous with something they just buffed, as much as i like to bash the anet crew for skill buffs/nerfs they ordinarily dont take away one form of farming without giving other options, people just need to go out looking for them.

Yeah my thoughts as well. Though i would say it will settle within the next week, instead of few days ^^

edit: or i guess it will be just few days afterall. from 70e down to ~50e within hours. Give it a day or two and it's back to "normal"

DoA is still easily done without shadow form or cry of pain, it just takes longer.

Anyone who pays at the spiked prices just contributes to the problem....

No, save yourself, TNTF, Earth shaker, use them, you will notice how easy DOA is even without COP.

Yep, because TNTF and SY! aren't insanely overpowered themselves.

And? OP fears armbraces are going to raise due to one of the OP skills being cut out, I answered that DoA can be done with similar efficiency by using other overpowered pve skills therefore the impact on prices is going to be small, because with COP out of the pictures there are still similar alternatives.
Is my sarcasm detector broken?

1. Foundry can be pwnt by the 3 man hero way
2. Gloom can be SOLOED
3. City is still doable with the classic "Tank n' spank"
4. Stygian Veil is pwnt by earth shaker and imbagons.

I think people may take advantage of the prices now, but it may eventually lower than what people are currently trying to sell it for.

Your first post implies that cry is the major skill in the DoA farm and without it, DoA is incredibly hard. Nerfing cry just makes it slower, which may reduce the rate gemstones are farmed therefore raising the price.

Armbraces should go up because I think the sub 1 hour hardmode clears are going to need reworking to get back to that level.

The prices before were terrible anyways, 42-45e for an armbrace. I wish the days of 100k+40-45e would back (and ecto was 5.5k)

Get used to it; there's no way prices are going back down to the old level with the new update.

50-55e sounds reasonable to me.

The nerf probably really hurts pugs the most. It's still possible, but as stated, it takes more time and thinking. I can see arms going up a little bit more than they are now. How long will it stay that price? Hard to tell.

Remember, it's more than just 50dmg reduction. Gotta include the light bringer title extra damage.

The update and prices can also be applid to Rit and Para Elite Tomes... although the price scale is not as drastic has 40E, but still, those tomes are probably going to go up a little in price with the recent skills buffs. Which is why I snagged a couple off the auction site for 8k

There's already new ~1-2hr builds out there, but god forbid that only decent players can actually do DoA! Maybe then armbrace prices would actually reflect the small amount of talent that is actually in the game. =O

Too many were already generated by those without skill, Illfated. The demand isn't increasing (much), but the supply is. Same basic problem ecto has, without a trader that tends to stabilize expectations.
